“The Path Forward”

Community Bible Baptist Church is hosting  “The Path Forward Workshop” an interactive workshop designed specifically for high school students, their parents, and young adults ages 18-24.  Spiritually based from Psalms 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path”. This workshop will be a dynamic two part series to prepare our youth and young adults for the real world and to help them develop strategies for success.  We will engage youth through meaningful dialogue, hands on activities, and practical application practices.  Our goal is to provide them with strategic analytical thinking skills, research techniques,  and to have them walk away with a confident outlook on managing their future.

Part One : The Road Map to College

Through thought provoking activities we will help them uncover their strengths, likes, and dislikes to match with corresponding careers, college majors, and choosing the right college fit.  They will be provided with tips and best practices in choosing the right college and getting accepted. They will understand the admissions process and learn financial aid tips. We will also review the Scholarship Hunt and provide unique resources.

Part Two: The Road Map to Real Life

We have found that schools and parents do a great job with preparing their kids for college however there seems to be a lack of planning for those who do not choose to further their education.  The fact of the matter is you can still become successful without a college degree and although we would love and encourage everyone to pursue  higher education, not everyone does.  Our goal is to provide them with alternative options and help them create plans of success so that they do not spend their 20’s wondering aimlessly without direction. Through hands on activities we will provide them with real life skills from career options, to interviewing, on up to creating successful job habits.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their cell phones/laptops and invite a friend! (Meals will be provided)
